Another option is to add wood shelves next to your vent hood. You can have one to two shelves on either side of your vent hood to give your kitchen a similar look to the extended countertop ledge. You can also combine the two designs of the shelves and countertop ledge designs by adding a second wood shelf installed above the countertop ledge.

The material used for the vent hood can be the same material as the tile backsplash or the cabinetry to create an integrated design. One popular option for curated kitchen designs is a plaster vent hood accented by a wood beam at the bottom of the vent hood. Over-sized metal vent hoods are another popular option for curated kitchen designs.
