THE HUTCHINS STORY: BATHROOM by Keith Moehle

  • Problem: The Hutchins’ family wanted to update an outdated guest bathroom, so it could be ready by the time their daughters came back from their first year of college.

  • Wish List: Additional cabinetry, remove an unused bathtub, upgrade the shower

  • Solution: We updated the shower, removed the tub and added in a custom bench in its place, added LVP flooring, and new lighting.

The HUTCHINS’ Story started back in 2017…

These clients had been wanting to upgrade their upstairs bathroom for their twin girls for a while, so they took advantage of the empty space while the girls were away at college to tackle the project.

The bathroom had lots of potential because it was spacious, but it wasn't living up to its true potential. It was outdated and specific features of the room just didn't make sense for the family. One feature that the family no longer used was the bathtub. So we removed it and replaced the empty space with a bench with pull-out cabinets.

We also updated the flooring with Luxury Vinyl Plank which is impervious to water and scratch resistant which is perfect, for the family’s pet. KM BUILDERS also updated the lighting, and enlarged the shower to include a built-in bench!

THE GALLARDO STORY: KITCHEN & ROOM ADDITION by Keith Moehle

  • Problem: The Gallardo’s were previous client’s of ours that have seen our work firsthand. They saw our expertise and wanted us to help them with a kitchen which was no longer suitable for their family lifestyle.

  • Wish List: Additional square footage, iron doors, custom wine & bar station, access to great views, custom cabinetry.

  • Solution: Build an addition to add more square footage, bring in more sunlight, select custom cabinetry.

The Gallardo Story started back in 2017…

These clients really wanted to do something with their kitchen. They are repeat clients and have already seen the work we have done for them so they were ready to take the plunge in a larger project.

Their cramped kitchen did not give them the desired space and it also brought a lot of darkness into the house with no windows! The solution was to build an addition to give them the kitchen of their dreams.

We completely scrapped their last kitchen to give them the kitchen they not only wanted but needed for their lifestyle. We added an impressive 72 sq. ft. to their kitchen with two oversized windows to take in beautiful hill country views.

The clients also chose custom rustic cherry cabinets that were made with their needs in mind with a custom coffee drawer, spice drawer, Tupperware drawer a charging station inside a drawer! All of them were soft-close and were a definite upgrade.

The Gallardo’s splurged on their wish list with an 8-burner Thermador range top, an oversized Cambria Windermere quartz island and custom wine gates for their custom bar.

The end result was a kitchen that is beautiful, brings in streams of light and is large enough for the whole family!

THE TAYLOR STORY: WHOLE HOUSE by Keith Moehle

  • Problem: This couple found themselves as empty-nesters who were left with a home that needed some major remodeling! The layout of their large home needed to be updated to their current needs, so they wanted a complete 180 in all parts of their mid-century home.

  • Wish List: Expand laundry room, open walls to get a grand master bathroom suite, exterior updates for aesthetics & entertaining, a warm living room and top of the line kitchen.

  • Solution: Complete update of the interior & exterior of their home.

THe taylor STORY STARTED BACK IN 2017…

These empty-nesters lived in a large home in 1982 that was long overdue for a major remodel for the interior and the exterior of the house. They wanted someone that they could trust to do this massive project which is why they chose KM BUILDERS.

Let’s begin talking about the exterior of the home. We installed new siding and added in an oversized front door to the home. We also replaced a stone wall around their courtyard with a privacy fence so they could still see the outdoor view while no one could look into the house. In the backyard of their home, we installed additional lighting, a sound system and a custom indoor-outdoor bar with a pop-up window that swings open for entertaining both outdoors & indoors. The window is actually a custom door with no track which sits on a leathered granite that will not be affected by the outdoor elements.

In the interior, we worked on everything on the first floor of their home which included a master suite & bath, two living areas, a powder room, a bathroom, a library, the kitchen, the dining room, and a laundry room. Here’s a breakdown of what we did in each of these rooms.

    • Main Living Room: The grand living room had a significant transformation. We removed the traditional fireplace and swapped it out with a gas?? Fireplace. We also installed automated skylights, custom shelves, sliding glass doors and beautiful Fir Douglas exposed beams to give the room character.

    • Kitchen: Upgrades to all appliances including a BlueStar cooktop, a Bluestar wall oven with French doors, a Galley Sink, new cabinetry and additional lighting.

    • Dining Room: A fresh coat of paint, additional lighting, a view to their courtyard and beyond with a new privacy fence instead of the former stone wall that was in place.

    • Living Room (off of the kitchen): This living room was rarely used before the remodel because of the darkness. We got rid of the wood paneling and replaced it with crisp white walls, exposed beams, and new windows and flooring to brighten up the room.

    • Powder Room: This bathroom has a unique live-edge mesquite counter as a statement piece that makes the room pop. They also removed the wallpaper and has a fresh coat of paint with a new lighting fixture.

    • Library: The empty-nester’s didn't see a reason for a library, so we converted it into a small living area to enjoy with company!

    • Master Suite: The room’s aesthetics were enhanced with exposed wooden beams, new flooring and contrasting wall colors. They also chose a barn door to lead them into their new master suite which allows them universal design for the future.

    • Master Bath: The original floor plan of this room was the master bath and an unused Jacuzzi room. Both areas were joined together which now offers them a walk-in shower, double sinks, a freestanding tub, under-cabinet lighting and his and her closets.

    • Bathroom: We removed a floating cabinet to make give the appearance of a larger room replaced it with a vanity sink to store bathroom necessities. We also installed a new toilet, tub, and backsplash to update the room.

    • Laundry Room: The Taylor’s no longer needed a 2-car garage, so we saw the opportunity to convert part of the garage into a dream laundry room. We shrunk the garage to give them a spacious laundry room that was finished with plenty of countertop space and with a calming blue color for the cabinetry.

Although this was a massive project to undertake the Taylor’s were ecstatic when it was complete, and we were happy that we could give them exactly what they dreamed about; a beautiful house that fulfilled their current needs

THE HUMMEL STORY: LIVING AREA by Keith Moehle

  • Problem: The Hummel’s loved their current home, but they needed to update their living room if they were going to keep their house. The living room and dining room felt cramped, they had a small entryway to their back yard, and lighting wasn’t sufficient.

  • Wish List: A open-concept space, a larger entry-way to the backyard to have access to their infinity pool and for their dogs to come in and out of the house, and ability to see the breathtaking views in their backyard!

  • Solution: Remove wall separating the dining room and living room, install oversized windows, install sliding door system to allow more light & a larger entryway to the backyard.

THE HUMMEL STORY STARTED BACK IN 2018…

This was the remodel that almost didn’t happen! The couple was ready to move to another area of town but backed out last minute because they decided they couldn’t part with the beautiful backyard view they loved.

That’s where KM BUILDERS comes into the story. Since they chose to stay in their home, they wanted to make some updates to their “forever home” and wanted only the best general contractor to work in their home.

Their wish list was to open up the room to expand the living area and also bring the outside in with beautiful sliding glass doors. We were more than happy to get this started for the couple.

Removing the wall added some square footage to the home and opened everything up. The beautiful sliding glass doors were installed to bring stunning hill country views inside and gave them easier access to their infinity pool and for their dogs to run in and out of the house!

THE BOSE STORY: KITCHEN by Keith Moehle

  • Problem: The Bose family lived out in the country, but had limited access to their quaint country views. They also had a cramped kitchen that was closed off from the living area which made entertaining difficult during the holidays.

  • Wish List: Leathered granite countertops, additional area for seating, an updated patio.

  • Solution: Remove unused kitchen door, add in windows, tear out the wall to create a larger kitchen, new flooring, updated cabinets, countertops, and appliances.

THE BOSE PROJECT STARTED BACK IN 2018…

These client’s had a long list of things they wanted to update in their country home. New flooring, updates to the kitchen and opening the space to the living room were the top priority. When Keith went on the first look to the couple’s house one of the first things he noticed was a lack of the beautiful countryside.

He suggested they put in windows to really appreciate the nature around them as well as bring in some much-needed lighting. This is precisely what they did.

The couple removed a door right off of the kitchen that they never used to make room for beautiful windows. They also installed LVP flooring over their old tile and selected brand new appliances & cabinetry.

The result was a bright, clean kitchen with an oversized island and leathered granite countertops to prepare all of the meals.
