Our Remodeling Timeline

What does our remodeling timeline look like? Get ready to dive into the details of answering one of the most frequently asked remodeling questions, "How long will it take to remodel my home."

When you think about your remodeling timeline and how long it'll take from start to finish to complete your project, it's best to break it down into four parts: The First Look Consultation, Architectural Design, Interior Design, and Construction.

The First Look Consultation.

Your remodeling timeline starts with the first phone call, where you'll schedule a First Look Consultation with our owner Keith. Our wait time for a consultation may be longer than other remodelers as appointments are being scheduled out a month to a month and a half, but taking the time to meet with Keith has multiple benefits.

  1. He can help you find a solution you hadn't thought of before. For example, let's say you want more space in your kitchen and you feel you need to make a small addition to gain more kitchen space. After speaking with Keith, he may suggest redesigning the layout of your kitchen, which will give you all the extra space you need.

  2. He can guide you to get the most out of your remodeling budget. In continuing with the example from above, we can explore the cost-saving options of not doing an addition. The funds you had allocated for the addition can now be redirected towards another project, such as a bathroom or selecting high-end finishes for your upcoming kitchen design.

  3. He can provide you with some direction on what's best for you and your family, even if that means choosing not to remodel. Keith will answer all your questions and help to weigh the pros and cons of remodeling so you can make the best decision for your family.

Architectural Design.

After the First Look consultation and you choose to sign a design agreement, you'll be scheduled for a Site Assessment which is the beginning of the Architectural Design phase of the remodeling timeline. The Site Assessment is usually scheduled a month to a month and a half after the initial visit with Keith. At the Site Assessment, our team of estimators and architectural designers will spend 2 to 4 hours taking detailed measurements of your home. As they're collecting measurements, you'll sit down with the Interior Design team to discuss your ideas and inspirations for your project. They'll get to know more about your style preferences, your must-haves, and what you need in order to improve the functionality of your home. As they listen to your ideas, they'll share their ideas to create a detailed wishlist of everything you want to include in your project.

Once the team returns to the office, they'll begin preparing your project's architectural plans and 3D renderings. The Architectural Design phase will take a few months to complete. During this phase, you'll have two to three design meetings to narrow down the final architectural design plans for your home. In these meetings, our team will show you different design options, layouts, and potential upgrades that can be included in the final plans. You'll also create the ideal budget for your project, where you'll have the opportunity to prioritize the items on your wishlist or decide if you want to increase your budget to include more of your must-have items in your project. Once all the final plans are approved, your project is ready to be estimated, and you'll be brought in for the final proposal. After your project has received all the final approval, it'll enter the Interior Design phase.

Interior Design.

In the Interior Design Phase, you'll spend a few more months working closely with the Interior Design team, ordering and selecting all the interior finishes for your project. You'll start by choosing the interior finishes that have the most extended delivery timelines, such as cabinets, specialty products, plumbing fixtures, and windows. As your project gets closer to your start date, you'll begin selecting interior finishes with shorter delivery wait times, such as your countertops and hardware.

As we're selecting the interior finishes for your project, we're also working behind the scenes preparing your project for construction with our build team. Our build team will submit the plans for your project to your neighborhood HOA if required. The Interior Design team is also working with our Build team as they share all your project details with your Project Manager. As your project gets closer to your start date, your Design Consultant will introduce your Project Manager to kick-start the final phase of the remodeling timeline, the Construction Phase.

The Construction Phase.

The construction phase is where all the remodeling magic happens. During construction, your Project Manager will provide you with daily updates on what work will be done that day, who will be working on your project, and other project status updates. The construction timeline will vary based on the type of project you're remodeling and the scope of work. Kitchen and primary bath remodels can take anywhere from 2 to 3 months. Smaller bathroom remodels will take roughly about a month to complete. Room addition projects will take anywhere from 2 and half months to 3 and half months to complete. Once construction is complete, there’s one last phase in the remodeling timeline, enjoying your forever home. Now as you spend your time at home each day, you can live out your dreams of having the perfect home.

Answering the question of how long your remodel may take is not a simple answer to give. Each phase of the remodeling timeline can take up to a few months, but the end result is so worth it!
