Sonoma Verde Transformation Story

This transformation story is all about the view!

This family loved their current home in the beautiful Sonoma Verde neighborhood. The house had more than enough bedrooms and bathrooms for their family. The home had a beautiful open concept kitchen that opened up to the living room and dining area. The backyard had a gorgeous infinity-style pool with an outdoor kitchen and an unbeatable view of the Cedar Creek golf course. They loved the neighborhood, the nearby schools, and the convenient location of their beautiful home. The only feature they weren’t head over heels for was their small living room.

Their current living area was dark, cramped, and lacked views of their gorgeous backyard. The living room only had one window that looked out to the backyard, which did not do their incredible view any justice. Not only did their living area feel cramped, but so did their dining space. The layout of their current home only allowed them a small dining nook between the fridge and the back door leading to the patio. While the family loved their home, their small living room was enough justification for packing up and moving to another house. However, once they started looking into new homes, they decided no other home could compare to the beautiful backyard view like the one they already had and loved.

In true love it or list manner, they decided to call our team to find a way to open up their living room to turn their current home into their forever home. Their wishlist was to open up the space to expand the living area and improve their current backyard view. They also wanted to update the dining nook off the kitchen. They had always wanted to expand their dining area to fit a larger dining table to accommodate their family and have additional seating for friends or other guests whenever they came over.

As we began the transformation of their home, we first turned our attention to opening up their living room. Towards the back corner of the living area where the dining nook was, two small interior walls led out to the patio. The home already had a well-designed patio, so we didn’t want to take too much space away from their existing backyard space. To ensure the family had the best of both worlds of having a large patio for entertaining and an improved view from their backyard, we decided to remove the two interior walls and enclose a small portion of the patio. Eradicating the walls changed the entire feel of the room! We made both the living and dining areas feel significantly larger with just a small amount of additional square footage.

In the dining area, we created more space for a larger dining table that allowed the family to gather around with friends and guests. By increasing the dining area, we were able to add two large windows with a long window bench below them. The two windows brought in more natural light into the living room and the kitchen, making the kitchen feel cozier and inviting. The window bench created a more inviting atmosphere by offering a space where guests could sit and enjoy the company of everyone gathered around the table.

Once we enlarged the living room, we installed a grand sliding glass door system that brought the indoors outdoors! As the living room opens out to the patio, the family has more living space as their outdoor patio now becomes part of their living room. Whenever they have guests over, they can easily walk in and out from the living room to the patio without ever having to feel separated. In addition to the increased living space, the family has a stunning view to come home to, along with an abundance of natural light to illuminate the living room. On rainy days or evenings with beautiful sunsets, the family can look outside to their sensational hill country views.

Now that the family has an improved living space and a gorgeous view of their backyard space, they are ready to call this house their forever home. If you have a similar situation in your home, call our team at 210-680-5626 to schedule a consultation.
