Can You Mix and Match Your Cabinet Hardware?

The answer is yes and we highly encourage it!

For years we’ve been told to not mix our cabinet hardware as it will create an unbalanced look. Now, however, mixing and matching cabinet hardware has become a popular choice for kitchen designs! Mixing your cabinet hardware is an inexpensive way to make your kitchen feel more high-end and create a balanced design.

Now when we say to mix and match your cabinet hardware, we don’t mean mixing the finishes. You want all of your cabinet hardware to be the same finish. Instead, you want to mix the styles of hardware you use for your cabinets. For example your draw pulls can be a different hardware style from your cabinet doors. Or you can use one style of hardware for your lower cabinets and a different style for your upper cabinets.

If you want to mix and match finishes in your kitchen, you can mix the hardware finishes with other elements in your kitchen such as your light fixtures or plumbing fixtures. For example, you can have matte black hardware paired with a gold light fixture for a little bit of drama mixed in with a little bit of glam. However, if you do decide to mix and match hardware finishes, you want to keep it to two or three finishes.
