Facelift vs. Full Remodel

In almost every decision to remodel a kitchen, there’s the dilemma if you should give your kitchen a facelift or do a full kitchen remodel.

The kitchen is a very significant part of your home. Not only is it the place where you cook delicious homemade meals, but it’s a place of comfort. When you have large family gatherings, you always end up gathered in the kitchen getting lost in conversation and laughter. But the kitchen is more than just the place where you cook your favorite meals. It’s also a place where you spend the most time at home when you’re not lounging in the living room. So it’s no surprise that people desire to have a stunning looking kitchen; which leads them to remodel. There are many ways to make your kitchen look gorgeous but the main question to ask yourself before remodeling your kitchen is deciding whether to give your kitchen a facelift or a full remodel.

A facelift consists of updating what you currently have in your kitchen. This means painting or replacing your cabinets without making any changes to your current kitchen layout. You would also be updating your countertops, backsplash, and flooring. If you love the layout of your kitchen and simply want to breathe new life into it, a facelift would be the perfect route to take. However, if you’re not happy with the current layout of your kitchen and you want to improve the functionality as well as the aesthetics, a full remodel would be the route to take.

What do we mean by a full remodel? In a full remodel, we would start by removing a wall or adding a small addition to give your kitchen more space to increase the functionality. It will also involve relocating appliances to match the new layout of your kitchen. In a full remodel, you’ll also have the opportunity to add new features such as a larger pantry or butlers pantry, a large kitchen island or double island, a wet bar and specialty appliances such as a wine fridge. If you’re also wanting to open up or connect your kitchen space to your outdoor living space, you’ll need to do a full remodel.

In both a facelift and a full remodel, you can create a stunning design. With the perfect blend of design selections and accent pieces, you can have a kitchen that will both wow your guests and feel like a trendy Pinterst worthy kitchen. The question you want to ask yourself if you’re happy with your current kitchen layout. If you’re satisfied with the space and layout of your current kitchen, then a facelift would be sufficient. However, if you feel cramped in your kitchen or you have an awkward layout, a facelift will not be sufficient. It would be the same feeling as getting a brand new paint job on an old car. It looks beautiful, but you’d be left with the same old problems.
