Everything You Need for a Mini Mudroom
You can never have too much storage space in your home.
In most homes you’ll find at least two to three storage closets. One coat closet and then one or two linen closets. At first we think this is ample storage space, but then later down the line we discover how little storage space we actually have.
Our linen closets quickly fill up with towels, sheets, and seasonal home decor. Depending on how much space you have left over in your linen closet, you may have to store your cleaning supplies such as the vacuum, broom, and other cleaning supplies. Before we know it, the clutter starts to build up. Our shoes collect in the hallway near the front door, gym bags collect in the laundry room, and our handbags, keys, and wallets are left behind on the kitchen island.
When some of that mess starts to overflow, it’s time to find a solution and a mudroom is an ideal solution for all your storage needs! Whether you choose to convert a room in your current home or add an addition to make room for a mudroom, it’s sure to make your life easier! Here are a few things that we recommend you include in a mudroom to maximize functionality.
Plenty of Coat Hooks: This is essential! You need places to hang all of your jackets, keys, purses and more. The more items you hang, the less mess you’ll see on the floor or scattered throughout your home.
Storage & Seating: Usually one of the first things you do when you get home is taking off your shoes. So it’s a good idea to include built-in seating and storage for your family’s shoes. You’ll also want to include storage for your vacuum cleaner and broom for when your family tracks in dirt, you can clean up with ease.
Cubbies: If you have children this will be a lifesaver! You can add a cubby for each child, so everything they need is right where it should be. Their backpacks and gym bags will no longer be part of your home's decor. Wherever you install the cubbies, you can add an extra storage for seasonal decor and other miscellaneous items.
