3 Telltale Signs Your Home Is Ready for a Remodel
As you look around your house, are you starting to wonder if it’s time to remodel? Here are a few telltale signs that your home is ready for a remodel.
Figuring out when to start a remodeling project can be a daunting question. There are all sorts of thoughts racing through your mind like am I ready to begin remodeling, does my house need to be updated, where do I begin, etc. The wish lists begin to pile up but you’re just not sure if it’s the right time to start.
Well here are 3 signs to look out for that your home is ready for a remodel.
Your home has a growing list of repairs: As your home ages and shows signs of deterioration, the interior and exterior paints will be one of the first aging signs. The paint will begin to chip and change color as a result of dirt and grime over the years. Next, you might notice the tile in your kitchens and bathrooms will start to detach as a result of the grouting wearing out. The carpet will also show signs of wear and tear by fading and beginning to look dingy. Then, if you start to see pests and termites, that usually means that your home has low-quality materials or has deteriorating materials. To top off your growing repair list, your roof may begin to leak which is never a good sign. This can mean one of two things; the roofing installer and service previously used was no good or your home has started deteriorating. If your home has any of these issues listed on your repair list, your home without a doubt qualifies for a remodel.
Your home feels crowded: As your family grows and your lifestyle changes, the functionality of your house changes too. With the current times, many college kids and elderly parents are moving back in with their families. With a growing family, your house can start to become crowded very quickly and you might need to think about creating more space to match the flow of your family.
Your house feels dated: If you have an older home built before the early 2,000’s, the popular styles then are more than likely not popular now. The carpet may be a color that’s less desirable such as maroon or hunter green. You may have some wood paneling or wallpaper that doesn’t fit well with today’s modern designs. Older houses will also tend to have gold finishes with pink or green tile in the kitchens and bathrooms that are just not appealing in the 20th century. The kitchen and bathrooms also probably have a cramped and inefficient floor plan design that doesn’t work for today’s modern lifestyle.
